What is food at camp like?

Hey All

May feels like its getting closer and closer and I am so stoked to go to the states. My slight concern is I'm quite a healthy eater, and I know the US hasn't got a good reputation for all things food. Don't get me wrong I can eat a Mcdonalds every so often but not everyday.

I recently saw a TikTok of a burger which is apparently a double cheese burger with bacon and you use crispy creme original glaze doughnuts as the bun. Eww!!

Is there variety of food at camp? Is American food as bad as everyone says?

Cheers

Tasmin

When you arrive you have to eat a New York pizza - it really is fantastic although dripping with grease! Food at camp isn't the best, think school lunches where food needs to be made for hundreds of people in a short amount of time. But along with the mac and cheese, fish sticks and burger days, at my camp anyway there were always options for vegans and vegetarians including a salad bar.

I'm not sure about camps but there is so much food in the US its not funny. Every city usually has its own specialties.

Deep Fried Twinkies are at Mermaids in Vegas. You will probably go there because they are known for their huge frozen drinks.

If your heading to New Orleans you have to drink a Hand Grenade. They are awesome! (hell i blacked out after mine!) When in Memphis you have to go to Rendezvous, best ribs ever!!!

and if in New Mexico, anything with Green Chillies when in season is fantastic!

Also in Arizona there is something called a Navajo (Navaho) taco. Its fried flat bread with meat, beans, luttice, cheese, tomatoes ect. Or you can eat it just the bread butter, honey and powdered sugar. You can get in Flagstaff, Cameron and GC areas. Its a local food and is awesome. Blue corn is also fantastic.

Another Mexico/Az food is a chocolate sauce called Mole (moley) you put on meat or on encheladas. Try it if you like chocoalte. Has a slight peanut flavour but is made with chocolate and chili powder. Roasted corn on the husk is great too.
