Are companies like CIEE, IES Abroad, CIS Abroad, Carpe Diem Education a rip off?

Hi all, I'm researching learning / summer study / intern abroad programs and I made a short list of companies:

• CIEE
• IES Abroad
• CIS Abroad
• Carpe Diem Education

... but is it me or are they a total rip off? They charge around $25,000 which is such a lot of money to pay.

Does anyone have any experiences with these companies or recommendations for cheaper / better programs?
