Are the reviews on GoOverseas.com fake?
Has anyone used GoOverseas.com before? I have been looking to teach abroad and I found this company on Google Go Overseas but when searching for teaching there only seems to be positive reviews of companies and courses? Am I missing something? I understand if they are advertising companies they are probably under pressure to promote these companies but do they filter/delete negative reviews? It's just surely there must be people with negative/bad experiences, but from my research I don't see any and this makes actually knowing what is real/worth doing difficult especially if you search on for example Facebook or Reddit there are lots of negative experiences and people saying to avoid some companies? I'm looking at online teaching courses to be specific but I did a quick look at volunteering too and it was the same but how can a volunteering program that costs $3000 for a few weeks have so many positive reviews when surely this expensive and wrong?
Always be cautious, I think you need to consider if companies are paying to be listed would they be happy to have bad experiences highlighted alongside trying to sell the same expensive experiences?! You really need to do your own research and don't be reliant on one site, there are lots of review sites and also social media where you can find real reviews. You could even contact people direct on X/Facebook/Insta if you see they have done the trip you are interested in.
I was checking reviews for a company (Greenheart Travel) and they are all very positive which did make me think something was up. It was only when I went on Reddit that I read some more realistic experiences so like Matty says above always do your own research.
I've been searching for summer study abroad programs and I was thinking something similar, some programs listed on gooverseas are like $25,000 yet the reviews are 99% positive??!!
