Are Volunteer World a reputable company?

I want to volunteer this summer and found a site volunteer world has any1 heard of it or done it before? Some of the trips to places like Bali look really good but I also read you need to be careful with volunteering as there are lots of scams and rip offs to avoid. Also there are some complaints I've read so if any1 has any experience of going with volunteer world message me or if any1 wants to volunteer with me let me know I'd rather go with some1 else rather than solo.

Some projects look very expensive, surely you can find cheaper better alternative sites with lower fees.
