Are we assigned roomates on tours?
Quote from MissTraveler77 on November 5, 2024, 12:03 amThat awful feeling of being left out? I am sure I'll meet tons of people, but theres always that what if in the back of my mind. Do I have to find a roomate or does the tour company assign me? Is there every a case where you are left on your own due to odd numbers?

Quote from Danni on November 8, 2024, 11:33 pmUnless you booked the trip with a friend or paid for a single room, travel companies match you with a same-sex roomate. I had the same fears on my first trip, and I am sure they will re-surface closer to the next one. I definitely would try to not worry about it too much, you already have one thing in common with everyone on your tour....your love of traveling and the desire to have fun. Just be yourself and I am sure you will be fine!

On concept tours (Europe), they have a sign up sheet with the appropriate number of spots for everyone at each stop. put your name somewhere and at the end you'll have roomies.
On my first tour I'm not sure what they were doing with rooms before, but our first stop had us in Chalets with 4 to a room. There was a sign up sheet and being one of the first to get the sheet didn't want to screw up any pairs, and hadn't yet met anyone on the tour, I felt really weird about it. I ended up with some roomies and had a good time. It all works out, don't worry about it.

Trust me, it didn't effect anything - infact people were jealous! Not sure the rationale of why I was the one as a single, but it was fine.

Quote from AussieMitch on November 17, 2024, 3:20 pmAs mentioned if you book with a friend you can room with that person. If you book alone you will find out when you get there. Most people would enjoy the thought of having a room to themselfs on a tour just due to the fact that there is very little "me" time on tours.
