Do I need aTEFL certification to teach in Taiwan?
Hi! I am a looking to move with my boyfriend and teach English in Taiwan in July - August of this year. We both have a bachelors degree and he has a teaching certificate and is currently in a masters of teaching program.
I have signed up with international TEFL academy taking the 120 credit hour online course with 20 hours in class practicum. I am paying the $1300 ($300 discount for a total of $1099) this week but wanted to check and see if anyone has advice for me or for him. Is this a waste of money? I do not have any teaching experience so I feel I will at least get knowledge and tools to use when getting in front of a class. Does HE really need it due to having a teaching license in NYC where we live?
Will it be hard to find a place that we can both live in together once over there? Do you simply look at an apartment and just put money down if you like it? How much American dollars should I bring for my deposit and first month rent before my first paycheck from my job?
