If you google "should I quit my job and travel" you'll find countless articles encouraging people to do it, explaining how employers don't always see it as an issue, how it ultimately broadens your CV, etc etc etc. You'll also come across articles that say this is stupid advice or not that easy for everyone.

I've decided to take time to go and teach abroad and it's been a very tough decision to make and I imagine it doesn't always work out for some people in the end. Sure, the travel may change a person's life but their return to 'normality' may not be what they expected.

So I'm curious to hear the stories from people who have made the leap and put their careers on hold to travel – and regretted their decision.
