If you had a full day then there is enough time. Dubai has a really serious traffic problem its normal to take up to 1.5 hours to get to the downtown area- Dubai Creek in peak hour.Getting a taxi at peak times is a hassel ,its quite common to wait at the stands for up to 1 hour or more.
Its risky and furthurmore you might not be that familiar with the city and the Dubai creek area.
5-6 hours at the airport will actually go by quite fast if you just browse the designer shops and duty free.

Quote from joelle on November 30, 2024, 9:13 pmI was last there on a flight change a few years back. I got in quite late so it was really quiet and there were A LOT of people asleep on the floor, not much doing there at all. Depending what time you get in, I think probably well worth taking a few hours to have a little sightseeing trip if you can arrange it. Otherwise the airport has lots of shops and places to eat to keep you busy for a few hours.
