Volunteering with freepackers what's it like
Hi,
My niece is going to work as a volunteer in South Africa with FREEPACKERS. She subscribed to them to get into a program and she signed for a placement as a volunteer in SA. My question is : Have you ever heard of them ? I'd like to have people's feedbacks or reviews. Thanks for your help, anyway.

Do some research on voluntourism as it is sometimes spoken against. I don't know Freepackers but I guess they are probably not really better or worse than others. You should however consider what the objectives are. Volunteering is big business and if you volunteer to gain a certain experience it may be worth it. If one volunteers to do good, things are far more complex, many projects are not thought out very well and may do more damage than good. And then there are the projects that are flat out fraudulent. (creating/maintaining a bad situation to keep the project going)
