How does anyone afford to backpack in Europe?
Quote from backpacker22 on November 3, 2024, 7:13 pmI've never been to mainland Europe before and I was looking to do a city hopping or interrail experience early next year for like 4-8 weeks taking in places like Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Munich, Prague and Budapest but I'm not sure how to pay for it. I don't have much savings and was hoping to do it on a budget but even the prices for hostel dorm beds at around 20-40 euros is scary! I know people still go travelling in Europe but how can it be done?

I'm planning a Euro trip too, and the only reason I'm thinking about doing it is because I've been living at home and working so I've managed to save money. Another thing I've done to save is to refrain form going out all the time - so basically give up entertainment for a while. Kinda boring but so worth it when you get to go. Also put your money in a high interest account - every little helps.

Quote from interrailer2025 on November 12, 2024, 5:40 pmI find it really hard to discipline myself to save but I need to save for an interrail trip next year. I've been working for a few months now and have saved very little. I think I will have to set up some sort of savings account and every time I get paid just put a third or half of it in there.
