How to work in Canada as an American?

Hey there,

I was hoping to try to work a ski season in Canada this year, but it seems to be a bit harder to find work casually as an American. I see that we don't get a working holiday visa, and if we want to get a working permit, we have to be sponsored by a company. I had planned on working hospitality in one of the ski towns like Big White, but I don't think I'll find a place to sponsor me before I arrive.

Has any American done a ski season in Canada and have some advice? Is it easy to find under the table work?

Thank you!

You can't get a working holiday visa because the USA does not offer them to Canadians, it is a reciprocal thing. That's too bad, 'cause I think both countries could benefit from this. I do not encourage or advise on illegal work outside a visa.

I have an Australian friend who worked Big White and loved it, but Whistler is pretty cool too. Also if you are still looking at options, view these winter ski jobs.

Also I'm sure there are plenty of specialist ski season staff that can probably help answer this better than me.
