Should I take birth control pill when travelling? And what to do with time zones?
Quote from Kiara_Emily on November 10, 2024, 10:19 pmHi all,
I am looking at doing a European tour and hopefully the Greek Islands! I was just wondering if any other girls had travelled for an extended amount of time and if so how they dealt with their periods?
I know I don't want to waste valuable exploring time on cramps etc, I was considering going on the pill and just skipping the sugar pills for the time I am away I was just wondering if anyone had any problems taking the pill into other countries? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
Also if I'm on the pill I'm just wondering how did you keep taking it at the same time in a different time zone? Did you switch to Europe (America/Africa/whatever) time before you left? Or try and keep taking it on your 'native' time.

If you're taking your boyfriend and worried about pregnancy then I would be more careful. If it's a short trip then I would stick as close to your schedule at home. If it's a longer trip (3+ weeksish) then you're probably better off switching to the time at your vacation, maybe adjust it over the 2 weeks before you leave.
If you're considering sex with new people you meet on your trip, use condoms to protect against STD's and the pill is just a back up for pregnancy.
