Post Summer Camp USA Tours and Travel Advice
Quote from danevans on October 27, 2024, 9:47 amI want to go to camp next summer and I've never been to the states before so I want to travel I thought about renting a car to do route 66 and the grand canyon but I read you need to be 21 so I dont know what is best to do. Should I book a tour? What are some good ones to do? If anyone has any advice let me know, cheers.

Quote from oli on November 20, 2024, 8:31 pmI did Camp America last summer and travelling after but before I went I struggled to find advice for how much you should budget for, so here you go to give you a rough idea of costs:
$100 a day is what you should budget for for your post camp travels if you want to see and do a lot but it can be done cheaper if you are frugal:
Accommodation $35
Food $25
Travel Expenses $15
Entertainment $25This worked well for me as I travelled for about a month and a half, covered 19 states, and slept ate well and did all the attractions. New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, DC, Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Mississippi, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, Nevada, California, Hawaii, (and Canada and Mexico day trips)
Well known tourist attractions(that cost $) I covered:
NY: Empire State building, Statue of liberty and Ellis Island
Washington DC: Everything you see there is Free to Public.
Tennessee: Graceland
Arizona: Grand Canyon
Nevada: Las VegasCalifornia:
San Fransisco: Cycled the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz
LA: Disneyland, Universal Studios, Six Flags Magic Mountain, Chinese Theatre...
San Diego: Tijuana 😉Budget for $100 a day some days you will spend less, some days more, but it will average out to about $100, unless you don't eat, or eat terribly.
Food is the only way you can cut costs I found. You will struggle to see everything you want to for less $100 a day
