Simple answer...everything. Jackets, warm woolen jumpers, thermals, scarves, skivvies, gloves, beanies etc. Europe gets mighty cold in winter and England is probably be the worst for cold damp and grey weather. The northern countries are colder than the Mediterranean ones. At times you will wish you have snow gear on lol.

As the other poster said the farther south you go the warmer it gets and some places like southern Spain don't really get cold. England, France, Germany, Switersland, Czech, Norway etc all get freezing. Wear socks, boots, jeans, a t-shirt, sweater and then a jacket with gloves and a scarf. The more you layer the better. Remember when you go into buildings, churches etc it will all be heated and you will want to remove a layer or two. A good beanie is essential, the warmer your head is the warmer the rest your body stays. And make sure you pack good socks and waterproof shoes. As soon as your feet get cold or wet you will become cold and miserable.
