How to Spend the Perfect 24 Hours in Berlin

Berlin

A real traveller’s dream, Berlin has all the things you want in a city and few of the things you don’t. Culture, history, bars, cafes, landmarks, friendly locals – all are present and correct.

Many international companies – like Google and Soundcloud – have opened up offices here, recognising the city as a leader in Europes technological industries. The originally less-wealthy suburbs are home to trendy bars and cafes, and properties in these spots are in high demand.

It’s all happening in Berlin. And it’s all happening right now.

This is how to spend the perfect day in Berlin.

9am

Awake, eat bread, drink coffee, eat more bread.

10am

Go see the remaining pieces of the Berlin Wall, check out Checkpoint Charlie, take a stroll along the Linden, marvel at the Brandenburg Gate or check out Museum Island. There’s lots to see in Berlin so get your walking pants on get amongst it.

1pm

Eat currywurst at Konnopke’s Imbiss. Served with a good slathering of spicy sauce and fries, these are apparently the best wurst in town.

2pm

Go check out Berlinomat, a mini department store that exclusively stocks home-grown designers. You’ll find clothes, accessories, furniture and jewellery in every imaginable incarnation. There’s also smooth electro beats and many cool cats.

4pm

Head to Badeschiff (the bathing ship/ former river barge, now swimming pool that is anchored in the Spree River). In summer you can hang amidst the bronzed euro gods and sun-fearing hipsters with a drink and your best trunks, in winter they cover the whole thing and add saunas. Ie year round awesomeness. (Ie they also have a bar).

6pm

Find somewhere that serves beer and drink it. Eat more sausage, love yourself (and Berlin) sick.

10pm

Check out the Absinth Depot, try a few varietals, say g’day to the green fairy.

11pm and on…

Nightclub

Berlin has some of the best clubs in the world (Berghain, Watergate, Cookies, Tresor etc etc). Dancing shoes and zero inhibitions are essential. Finish your night up at Weekend where you’ll still be partying as the sun bursts through the windows and consider heading to Club Der Visionaere for a recovery session – a collection of riverside shacks where you can take it easy in the sun with a default soundtrack of minimal techno.
