USA flag

Are you thinking about working at a summer camp? Wondering what you will do at Camp America? Or what a typical day at summer camp is like and what to expect?

The first thing to know is there are thousands of camps in the United States and each one is different. It also depends what role you are hired to do at camp, for example if you are coaching sports your day will be completely different to if you are working in the office or kitchen.

But no matter what job you do, expect lots of fun, entertainment, laughs and non-stop action.

Here’s a basic run down of what you will do every day if you apply to work as a summer camp counselor.

7:45am- Wake up the kids in your cabin
– Dress
– Clean up and make beds
8:45am – Walk to Breakfast
9:00am – Breakfast in the dining hall
9:45 – First session starts – the kids might do computers, dance, drama, story telling, arts and crafts, science, nature etc.

9:00pm – All campers shower and have snacks back at the cabin
10:15pm – Lights out…( with much protest and drama!)

Staff congratulate each other on surviving another day, debrief about kids we need to look out for and make sure everyone is in fact asleep!! Staff then go to sleep and get ready to do it all again the next day!
